Robert Duvall born as Robert Selden Duvall on January 5th, 1931 in San Diego, California is an amazing American actor who won several awards including an Oscar, Golden Globe, Emmy BAFTA and several other awards for his outstanding acting abilities in various movies. He has won 41 awards and was considered for 27 more as a nominee. Besides acting, he has also written, produced, and directed number of television shows and critically acclaimed movies like "The Apostle" and "Assassination Tango".

Robert Duvall was born to smalltime actress Mildred Virginia nee Hart, and William Howard Duvall, a Navy admiral. Robert Duvall graduated from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois in 1953 and later served in US army for a year receiving the National Defense Service Medal. Robert Duvall studied acting at The Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre in New York under Sanford Meisner.

Robert Duvall began his acting debut in 1960 with a "Playhouse 90" television show and appeared in several television shows. He made his movie debut in 1962 with "To Kill a Mockingbird" and continued to act in several successful movies. He got his breakthrough with a starring role in "The Godfather" {1972} which earned him an Academy Award nomination. He then went on to earn four more Oscar nominations for his "Apocalypse Now" {1979}, "The Great Santini" {1979}, "The Apostle" {1997}, "A Civil Action" {1998}.

Robert Duvall finally won an Oscar for his "Tender Mercies" {1983}. His other movies that won critical applause for his performances are "Network" {1976}, "Rambling Rose" {1991}, "Deep Impact" {1998}, "A Civil Action" {1998}, "Assassination Tango" {2002} and many more. Robert Duvall has time and again said that his all-time favorite role was Augustus 'Gus' McCrae in "Lonesome Dove" {1989}.

Robert Duvall has been into marriage four times in his life. He married Barbara Benjamin in 1964 and divorced her in 1975. Next he married Gail Youngs in 1982 and divorced in 1986. His third marriage was to Sharon Brophy from 1991 to 1996. For the fourth time he married Luciana Pedraza in 2005. They have been dating since 1997.
